To be eligible for certification, the applicant must have earned a minimum of a master’s degree in their profession and hold a state or national license as listed below.

- Addiction Counselors
- Associate Level or Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Professionals

Training Requirements:
A minimum of 18 hours of continued education, in specific somatic therapy topics.
Pre-approved, 3rd party trainings that meet the training requirements for CSTFP certification include:
- Somatic Trauma Therapy Certification Course: A 4-Month Intensive Online Training by PESI – Certification Included!
- Somatic Trauma Healing Certification with Abi Blakeslee: In-Session Demonstrations and Clinical Skills in Body-Based, Polyvagal & Neurobiological Interventions by PESI – Certification Included!

Please note that Evergreen Certifications does not offer continuing education, all training must be purchased directly through the accredited training organization. Training is not included in the certification fee.
Application Process:
For your initial 2-year certification, please complete the following steps.
- Complete a qualifying training
- Remit your initial application payment of 149.99 USD online
- Upload the following documents to your account:
- A copy of the candidate’s professional license
- Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CE or completion certificate
Evergreen Certifications will certify applicants who meet the above requirements.
Please note: Certification does not imply endorsement of clinical competency. As a licensed professional, you are responsible for reviewing the scope of practice, including activities that are defined in law as beyond the boundaries of practice in accordance with and in compliance with your profession’s standards.
Renewal Process:
To maintain CSTFP certification, a renewal is required. After your initial 2-year certification, you can renew for 2 years. A 2-year renewal requires 12 hours of continuing education related to somatic therapy since you were last certified.

- EMDR and Somatic Therapy Integration for Complex Trauma Treatment by PESI
- Somatic Therapy for Trauma: Healing attachment, racial, and collective trauma through the body by PESI
- Somatic Therapy for Treating Intimate Relationships: Healing Disconnection, betrayal, trauma and more through the body by PESI
Renewal Process
- Complete a qualifying training
- Upload the following documents to your account:
- A copy of the candidate’s professional license
- Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CEU or completion certificate
- Remit your CSTFP renewal fee of 99.99 USD online
Renewal training hours need to have been taken in the time since you were certified or last recertified.
Renewals are calculated from the date that your certification was issued. If you allow your certification to lapse for more than 2 years, you are no longer eligible to renew your certification and instead can reapply for certification
Abi Blakeslee - SEP, CMT, MFT, PhD
Abi Blakeslee, SEP, CMT, MFT, PhD is an international expert in the field of trauma recovery and the founder of Implicit Psychotherapy. She is senior faculty at the Somatic Experiencing International and additionally legacy faculty for Dr. Peter Levine’s Ergos Institute for Somatic Education. She is the Director of Training and Education for the Neuro-Consulting Group.
Dr. Blakeslee holds a PhD in clinical and somatic psychology and an MA in counseling and depth psychology. Her dissertation generated original research on the role of implicit memory in healing trauma. Dr. Blakeslee integrates the study of implicit memory and psychophysiology in clinical research, secondary trauma interventions, and the psychobiological principles of attachment and shock trauma. Dr. Blakeslee teaches and consults worldwide.
Ann Saffi Biasetti - PhD, LCSWR, CEDS, CIAYT
Ann Saffi Biasetti, PhD, LCSWR, CEDS, CIAYT, is a practicing clinician for over 30 years specializing in somatic psychotherapy. She is an eating disorder specialist, certified mindfulness teacher, Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher, and Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). Dr. Biasetti teaches in the Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy (SCIP) program, where she shares her expertise in somatic self-compassionate interventions for eating disorders recovery and serves as a consultation leader. She has led well-received retreats at Kripalu and Shambhala Mountain Center and has led professional training workshops through her Befriending Your Body (BFYB) certification program for eating disorder recovery. She is the author of Befriending Your Body: A Self-Compassionate Approach to Freeing Yourself from Disordered Eating and The Awakening Self-Compassion Card Deck: 52 Practices for Self-Care, Healing and Growth. Dr. Biasetti maintains a private practice in Saratoga Springs, NY.
